Sing For Absolution

"Doesn't it feel good to be done with this song?"  That's all Josh and I really said to each other as we drove to my house at midnight last night after the recording session.  We always car pool since my house is on his way to the studio.  We sat there quietly in the car and listened to mood-fitting music:  mellow and optimistic.  The fact is that we could have been done with 'Deep Calling' months ago but it's as if the song itself was withdrawing from completion.  There were things missing.  Unfinished business, if you will.  Those things were found last night.

When I say the song is finished I don't necessarily mean that it's ready to print.  It is finished in that the composition of the song is right.  We've tracked all the parts and the format is good.  Now all that is left is mixing, post-production and mastering.  'Deep Calling' represents the changes and struggles we've gone through as a band.  It is a painful yet necessary and rewarding process.  I must say it feels good to find absolution in our process.
